Managing fraud and financial crime risk: a risk-based approach for Queensland councils

Fraud and financial crime can undermine the integrity, sustainability and public trust that are essential to effective local government operations.

Queensland councils are expected to adopt a risk‑based approach that embeds strong governance, targeted controls, and proactive culture across their operations from procurement and payroll to grants, assets, and information management.

This 45-minute webinar is designed specifically for local government professionals and elected members. It provides an overview of the key fraud and financial crime risks facing councils today and introduces a practical, council-focused checklist that participants can use to assess existing controls, identify potential gaps and strengthen their council’s resilience.

Who should attend?

This webinar is designed for Queensland’s local government employees and elected members seeking to strengthen their understanding of fraud and financial crime risk management within a council environment.
