Cyber risk is everyone’s business: embedding cyber-safe practices across Queensland Government

Cyber security isn’t just an ICT function or a ‘manager-only’ responsibility – it’s shared across the organisation, and protects service delivery, sensitive information, public trust, and public money.

This session touches on Queensland’s Information and Cyber Security Policy (IS18) and covers practical behaviours and decisions that staff can apply immediately:

  • safer handling and sharing of information
  • smarter access, and privilege requests
  • recognising and reporting suspicious activity early
  • building security into projects and vendor engagements.

The session uses the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC)’s Essential Eight framework as an easy, common reference for ‘what good looks like’ and link the discussion to Queensland’s broader cyber security strategy and resilience goals.
