Cyber risk is everyone’s business: turning IS18 into everyday practice across Queensland Government

Cyber security isn’t just an ICT function or a ‘manager-only’ responsibility – it’s shared across the organisation, and protects service delivery, sensitive information, public trust, and public money.

This session translates Queensland’s Information and Cyber Security Policy (IS18) into practical behaviours and decisions that staff can apply immediately:

  • safer handling and sharing of information
  • smarter access, and privilege requests
  • recognising and reporting suspicious activity early
  • building security into projects and vendor engagements.

We’ll use the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC)’s Essential Eight framework as an easy, common reference for ‘what good looks like’ and link the discussion to Queensland’s broader cyber security strategy and resilience goals.

Who should attend?

This webinar is designed to provide Queensland’s public sector professionals from across the sector at all levels – any one handline sensitive information or approving access/privileged.  This session will equip participants with practical tools and decisions that staff can apply immediately in their role.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain their personal and role-based responsibilities under Queensland’s Information and Cyber Security Policy (IS18)
  2. Apply practical cybersecure behaviours in daily work using the Essential Eight as a reference for ‘what good looks like’
  3. Better integrate cyber risk considerations into projects, procurement, and vendor engagement decisions.
